Pythagorean Theorem Applications
Below is a lesson I created for an 8th grade math class where they had just learned the Pythagorean Theorem and would be applying the theorem in this lesson. Here I was experimenting with different lesson plan templates. The first two documents are the student note sheet and my teacher notes on the student note sheet. The following two documents are two different forms of lesson templates that I attempted to use. I found that this lesson fit the templates in different ways and that some parts were missing in certain templates and others were present. Finally, the last piece is my reflection of the class period.

Reflection of the Class Period
I really liked how class went on monday. There were a few things that I would have changed for next class if there was a next class. One thing I wished I would have remembered to do was get the reference of the venn diagram/flow chart drawn up on the board for the students to look at. I think it would have moved the first piece along a bit better and better allow the students to be able to see the relationship of classifying numbers and how they could be in multiple groups. Recapping the Pythagorean theorem seemed to go slow as well. I think I was trying to get to too many tables. I like the suggestion of having a student finish writing the problem out on the board for early finishers. This would also allow me to explain the second problem quicker and allow me to move on and save time. I feel the same about the converse of the pythagorean theorem problems where they needed to tell if it was a right triangle. I feel that if I would have been able to move quicker through these problems and more efficiently we could have had more time for the meat/purpose of the lesson, the applications. I also did not feel bad about spending a lot of time on pythagorean theorem at the beginning either though because we had a lot of kids who were lost the first day we taught it. But the point/goal of the lesson were the applications, so I should have spent more time there. I felt that the kids were responding decently well to my questions and I achieved my goal of trying to call on different students. But maybe I need to state my directions a little more clearly for them next time to allow for more cooperation
